Dodgeville School District's COVID-19 Student Handbook

This handbook represents months worth of research, planning, and hard work. Inside the document you will find value information on the district-wide processes and procedures related to keeping school buildings open during the pandemic.

Conditions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic are ever-changing. The Dodgeville School District's Re-Launch Plans for the 2020-2021 school year are fluid at this time and will be continually evaluated and updated in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Our goal is to balance the educational needs of students with the health and safety of our students, staff, families, and our community.

Using community survey data, staff input, and guidelines from local, state, and federal agencies, our taskforce subcommittees determined three top priorities:
- Maintaining the health and safety of students and staff.
- Providing a pathway for students to return to our buildings to resume their education.
- Choice! We want to provide our families a choice when it comes to their child’s education.

WI Dept. of Health Information for Parents on Children, School, and COVID-19

HIGHLIGHTS:

Students will be divided into two groups:

ELP - 9th Grade:
Format/Schedule: Brick & Mortar
Instruction: In-Person
ELP-3rd Grade (Location- DES)
4th-6th Grade (Location- DMS)
7th-9th Grade ((Location- DHS)
In this model, ELP-9th graders would come to school each day. The grade levels would be divided to accommodate physical distancing.

10th - 12th Grade:
Format/Schedule: Blended
Instruction: Asynchronous (on their own time), Synchronous (in real time), and In-Person
In this model, students will receive their education both via virtual format, including asynchronous (on their own time), synchronous (in real time), and in-person. The in-person instruction could come in the form of classes, lab work, discussion sessions, learning groups, etc. and could be offered at various times throughout the day.

All parents have the choice to keep their child home!
If you choose to do so, the Dodgeville School District will provide an alternative option that combines blended synchronous and asynchronous learning. If requested, we will offer a virtual option for parents who would like to teach their own children.

This document is intended to be a general guide to relaunch. It is a frame work to help build school specific plans. During the coming weeks and months, district and building level leavers will be working with staff to redefine the plan and create specific processes and routines that will help answer questions and concerns that parents and students may have about what school will be like this year. We ask the community for their patience and understanding as staff work through this process.
