DES GENERAL INFORMATION

ATTENDANCE

It is important for all Dodgeville Elementary School students to demonstrate an excellent attendance record. When a student must be absent, parents are to contact the DES School Office (608) 935-3307, ext. 1000 by 8:30 am stating the reason for the absence and when he/she will return. To provide for compliance with state law, parents/guardians should also provide a written doctor’s statement in the case of an extended illness of 3 days or more. Extended or planned absences should be communicated to the school office at least one week prior to the missed days. For more information, please see the 2020-21 DES Parent-Student Handbook.

STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP INFORMATION

1. ALL car rider traffic is being moved to the North Parking Lot for drop-off to help improve safety & security.
- This will keep students more secluded behind the school and not as "out-in-the-open" in the front.
- It will minimize the distance for getting to the playground & entering the building.
- We will be able to consolidate our staff to one area inside and one area outside for supervision.
- It greatly reduces non-student/non-staff traffic, including the need to identify and to track non-staff adults within the building.

2. Parents will still have the option to walk-in ELP students and special education students. Parents may park in the Lower Front Parking Lot and use Entrance #1.
- Additionally: parents who have business in the office (lunch money, forgotten items, doctor's notes, meetings, etc.) may also park in the Lower Front Parking Lot and enter through Entrance #1.

3. The South Parking Lot will no longer be used for AM student drop-off. Instead, the South Parking Lot will be used for overflow parking if the Lower Front Lot is full.

4. Busses are the only vehicles allowed to pull directly up to the front of the school for drop-off.
